Course Introduction
The WSET Level 1 Award in Spirits is intended for people who have little or no prior knowledge of spirits. It is designed to provide a sound but simple introduction to spirits
For individuals new to the subject, this qualification offers a hands-on introduction to the world of spirits.
You’ll explore the main styles and types of spirits through sight, smell, and taste to develop an understanding of the key factors affecting flavours and aromas. Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.
*The knowledge acquired in this course will be a significant advantage for those working in the beverage industry, in reatail or the hotel and restaurant industry

Course Overview
The basic principles of spirit production l The main types and styles of spirits l Factors affecting the flavour of spirits l Tutored tastings of 10 spirits l How to serve spirits l How to describe spirits using the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Spirits® (SAT)
By the end of the course you’ll be able to taste and describe spirits using a globally recognised approach, identify important styles of spirits and know the raw materials and production methods that define them.

Course Assessment
The Level 1 Award in Spirits exam consists of 30 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 45 minutes. To pass you must correctly answer 70% of the questions.

Entry requirements
There are no entry requirements for this qualification. You must be of legal drinking age in Portugal to participate in any alcohol tasting.
